It was a typical cloudy day in Portland, OR and David had just proposed in the most romantic of ways. He arranged dinner at my favorite restaurant and a saxophone player to serenade us while he popped the big question. After dinner we meandered around Portland’s Rose Garden, one of our favorite places for a slow, romantic walk. On an overlook of the city, we stopped to soak in the view and enjoy a slow dance under the stars. We shared dreams of what our wedding and our life together would look like. It was then and there that David popped his first real estate question: “What do you think if we buy a house with two or three rooms and rent out one of the bedrooms?”
That was my introduction to real estate investing. It has been a part of our family ever since.

It has been more than twenty-one years since David popped his first real estate question. Five children, three states and multiple properties later, we are diving deeper into real estate investing. We are more and more convinced that real estate offers a special opportunity to help others with affordable, comfortable housing while being intentional about growing wealth and a lasting legacy for our family. Real estate investing has not only been financially beneficial for our family but has also been an avenue through which we can teach our children about finances, serving others, stewardship and investing – our time, resources and money.
Real estate is a team sport and for us, it’s about family, loving our family well now and in the future.
Let’s build a legacy together.
